Match report A DAY FOR AN UNDERDOG.

After having the best availability evaporate from 16 to just 12 and lots of uncertainty on who was actually playing we got a great team out.

Bowling first we had a tremendous start with Andy Wordley and Ken Greenaway reducing Galleywood down to 14-4 with a decimating bowling attack inside 11 overs. The tight bowling continued with Jamie James Baines, Kai Creswell and Kia Cheif nulling the Galleywood attack with a further 25 overs of dullness and the score literally increasing one run per over with another wicket thrown in for Kia. So after 36 overs the home side were on 110-5 and not looking like it was going to improve, The last 9 overs only a further 31 runs were scored with returnees Mudsair Nazir and Alan Paddon stalling the Galleyood innings to a low score of 141-6 from 45 overs.

A special mention to Arlo James Parker for a great performance behind the stumps with three catches and to Andy Wordley who finished with figures of 3-29 from 6 overs.

And then come our batting!! We do have a great ability to make things very hard for ourselves and this game was no different.

Yes we lost a couple of wickets inside the first 5 overs, those being of Andy Wordley on 10 and Alan Paddon on 0 (but he was injured) but we kept the score ticking over and were looking comfortable even when captain Ken was caught on 35 in the 25th over with the score on 79. Kye Haydn who had been in since the 5th over built a partnership with Ken before he was Galleywoods 4th victim as he was very unlucky to be caught on 28.

So we were on 91-4 from 30 overs... 50 runs to get from 15 overs and 6 wickets in hand... easy hey... NO! A collapse ensued, no names mentioned like last week but the FOW's went like this...

96-5....104-6...110-7...111-8...120-9!

And in wandered Stuart Careless to a welcome of, "we have this in the bag comments" from the oppo in the field, water of a ducks back, after last week I was not going to let it happen again, after a tactical talk from David Stanton my batting partner I decided to ignore what I was told and just swot the ball as much as possible with David to ensure we got near the target, a flurry of runs between us got the score to 135-9 from 42 overs.

David came down the wicket, informed me I had lots of time to get the runs required, but I had another plan as they bought on my favourite type of bowler and the game was all over inside the next 4 balls.

It went like this... DOT, FOUR, TWO & then a FOUR to seal victory! Much to the oppositions disappointment as they all sunk to their knees, never under estimate and underdog!!

It was a superb result and pushed our midtable quest even closer, we also have a very slim chance of promotion via the back door if we finish in the top three or four, well done TEAM BOREHAM!!
