Match report At a windy Recreation Ground, Boreham seconds fielded first against Rayleigh Fairview III, and saw young Ryan Davies take his first two wickets of the season (8-0-43-2) as the young tyro made life uncomfortable for a strong Faireview team. Micky Rayner was excellent opening the bowling for the second week running, taking two wickets in two solid spells (11-1-60-2). He wasn't the only Rayner playing well with Luke Rayner making his season debut bowling solid swing, creating two fantastic catches from captain Rob Hepworth. Jamie Baines, Chris Empson and Stu Careless all added wickets but an exceptional 92 not out from Fairview's Shadbolt saw the visitors post a difficult total of 248 in a rain shortened innings. In the chase Boreham for the second week found runs tough to come by, reaching 77 all out in the 19th over, David Lockhart-Hawkins top scoring with 17 including three boundaries in a 46 minute innings (his longest for the club to date). Micky Rayner added to his bowling brace by adding 16 runs including some lovely boundaries. The inexperienced batting lineup struggled to score against a lively pace attack, but again there was some real positives in the performance, though the team will want to ensure they keep up their energy in the field in the final overs.
