Match report I find writing match reports are easy to when you are sat on the boundary scoring and taking in all the action from a distance thus meaning you can pick up on little things that are missed. But when Im playing and writing one its easy to miss things that happen, so apologies if I do in the report below. So I here go any way.

Boreham made the short trip to Danbury to play Oaklands, sounds complicated don’t it. Captain Trevor strood out to the wicket and promptly won the toss and elected to bowl. Today we had a new player in our team going by the name of Adam Morris, he was drafted in after the late withdrawal of Neil Collins from our starting eleven.

Opening the bowling was Ken Greenaway and Alex Cook. Oaklands batting was opened the former Boreham player Peter Kettley and Leighton. Alex was the first to claim a wicket having Peter Kettley who had decided to tee off early caught and deep mid off by the youngster Owen Cooper to a rapturous reception. Oaklands big hitter was removed and it was only the third over.

Next in was J.Gill, an old boy who was probably from the same age of cricket that our TM is, afer a few lusty blows he was quickly removed by Cookie as well. Boreham were looking good at this point with two of Oaklands Three good batsman out.

Then a funny moment in all the chaos, Michael Rayner on retrieving the ball was passing the ball back to Trevor who must have been away with the fairies and not looking got hit on the back of the head with the ball as he turned around at that second Michael through it in, smiles soon came out as poor old TM got to his feet and said he was all good and laughed it off.

The wickets then become to tumble quickly with both Ken and Cookie picking up a further 4 between them and a run out shared by the pair too. S.Constantos was caught by Stuart Careless with a low catch to his left, soon after Cookie and Ken clean bowled the five, six and seven batsman, then just as chaos looked to ensue in the Boreham field Ken launched and exquisite throw to Cookie to run out Oaklands number seven batsman.

Oaklands were rocked. Ken and Alex finished their spells with figures of 9-1-26-3 and 9-1-27-3 respectively. This then bought Owen Cooper and Michael Rayner onto bowl. They wasted no time in taking the last remaining wickets with Owen starting with getting the forgotten man Leighton who had quietly built up an innings but then get done by the double bouncer and was bowled on 43. Then Michael and Owen finished them off with only 2 runs being scored from the last two batsman thus bringing the Oaklands innings to a close at 87 all out.

Michael and Owens figures were 3.1-1-14-2 and 3-1-2-1 respectively.

Fter a quick turn around the opening batting attack was Trevor Money and Kevin Ling. Unfortunately Trevor managed to get himself out 2nd ball of the innings LBW. (0-1)

Only trouble for Oaklands was it bought in our big hitter from the week before in the shape of Paul Morris, after his 122 not out last week he showed that he had not let off the gas smashing the first ball he faced for 4. Paul blasted past his 50 in 44 balls which included a huge six to the longest boundary.

Kevin and Paul took it upon them selves to build up the 2nd wicket partnership until Kevin was caught by Kettley on 6. But the 2nd wicket stand of 74 looked to be the last nail in the Oaklands coffin as they looked to just give up. It was soon over with Owen Cooper hitting a four down leg side to end the match. Paul finished up on 60 not out with Owen scoring 5 not out.

This result means Boreham leave Dawsons Field with a victory and more importantly 23 points top move into 2nd in the table.
