Match report Away at Rainham on a day featuring sun, sleet and a spot of rain, the new look Boreham seconds made a great impression in the field, restricting their hosts to 172 runs, with tidy bowling coming in particular from youngsters Jamie Baines, Ryan Davies and debutant Sammy Brock, (Baines taking 1 for 18 from six overs), and steady hands Rob Hepworth (10-1-48-2) and Micky Rayner 9-0-49-1 providing good support. Chris Empson, another debutant also bowled well for a wicketless five over spell surrendering just seventeen runs. Excellent fielding from Hepworth, Brock and a nice catch from Chatters on his debut were standouts, as was solid wicket keeping from Seb Slaughter making his first league performance behind the stumps.

With several new faces and limited experience a run chase was always going to be a hard task, and Boreham did indeed struggle against a very good Rainham bowling attack. Hepworth and Lockhart-Hawkins saw off the first few overs before Lockhart-Hawkins missed an in-swinger that took middle stump. Rayner top scored with ten including two boundaries, and both Brock and Ryan Davies showed good technique before getting out early but give confidence that they will bring runs in future. The Rainham spinner finished with five wickets for four runs as Boreham were skittled for 48.
