Despite a very strong bowling performance, Boreham firsts lost at Willow Herbs on Saturday 3rd August. Enduring the absence of the club's top three bowlers due to injury and work, the firsts without the bowling of Ken Greenaway, Micky Rayner and Jamie Greenwood restricted their hosts to 211 for 9 with Liam Watts having his best figures for the year with 3 wickets for 57 runs (11-1-57-3), and young Ryan Davies in his second appearance for the firsts taking two wickets (8-0-30-2) also with a very economical two spells. Spencer Gore posted good figures with two wickets for 53 runs (12-1-53-2) with Mike Bruder also taking a wicket for just 32 runs in his eight overs. Yorke top scored for Herbs posting 99 before being run out after good work from Andy Bryant and Watts.

Batting second, Boreham's openers made a steady start in the first four overs before losing both Hepworth and Greenwood before Bruder made a careful 12. Watts then made the lion's share of the runs of the innings with an excellent 49 not out including seven boundaries and one six. A short batting lineup for the firsts was eventually exposed for a score of 99 all out. Positives can be taken from the bowling and the fielding, with Watts showing his importance with another excellent batting show.
