Match report Firsts Lose but plenty of digging in!
Boreham firsts lost to Willow Herbs firsts on Saturday despite two of the most unusual innings in the club’s history. Mike Bruder in 98 minutes scored 9 runs from 101 balls while Stu Careless broke a club record for most balls faced for 0, facing 54 balls for no runs. Herbs faced no such difficulty scoring and they set Boreham a very difficult total of 275 for the loss of three wickets as they batted first. It was a tough afternoon in the field for the Ornaments with Harris posting an unbeaten century (103), and M Jones a half century (51) with wickets for Boreham taken by Bruder, Micky Rayner and Liam Watts.

Chasing the big total Peter Kettley (15) and Bruder made a steady start but with 5 wickets falling for no runs to Walsh, Boreham were headed for defeat. Rayner (8 runs), Ken Greenaway (10) and Seb Slaughter (not out with 11) got on the scoreboard but Herbs finished the game off in the 35th over.

Plenty to work on for Boreham this week, and two midweek fixtures should see some more time at the crease.
